How to choose the right DJ for your wedding!
We hear all the time that one of the most memorable parts of any wedding is the party! It’s when you can finally throw your heels off, let your hair down and dance the night away with your family and friends all wishing you well. If you’re getting married in Gibraltar or the Costa del Sol, you’re lucky in that there is a fairly wide variety of wedding DJs stretching from Málaga all the way down to Tarifa. With so many options available in our local area, how do you choose the right DJ for your wedding?
1. Reviews
Ask around – you really can’t beat recommendations from people you trust. Even better, if you’ve been to a wedding recently where the music was fantastic, contact the couple and ask them who their DJ was. There’s no better audition than seeing the DJ perform first-hand. In fact, about 75% of our bookings are from couples who have already seen us play at a wedding.
2. Service
Contact the DJ for a quote and judge their response before you commit to them for your big day. Do they respond to your Facebook message or email quickly and in a friendly and professional way? If so, they’re likely to behave the same way in all of your dealings with them. If they reply late, answer in a rude or pushy manner or don’t reply at all, perhaps it’s not worth taking a chance on them behaving professionally at your wedding.
3. Flexibility
Some DJs have a ‘wedding playlist’ of songs that they’ll play at every wedding…in the same order! If a DJ is willing to meet up with you in advance to discuss the music you’d like to hear and to take into account your likes and dislikes, they’re more likely to get everyone dancing on your big day.
4. Enthusiasm
For some DJs, music is a way of life. For others, it’s just a job that pays the bills. When you meet up with your DJ in advance, do you get the feeling that they actually want to play at your wedding? If not, it might be best to look for someone who really enjoys their job.
And now for one of the most important considerations when it comes to choosing the right DJ for your wedding:
5. Price
Unless money is no object, you’re likely to have a budget for your wedding entertainment and it’s important that you stick to it. However, it’s just as important to remember that you get what you pay for. Generally speaking, those who charge very little tend to offer very little. Ask around and choose a DJ who has a good reputation but doesn’t charge way too much or far too little.
